The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for preparing, arranging, and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment and facilities at Request Foods. This role involves developing detailed work plans, coordinating resources, and maintaining accurate records to minimize downtime, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and skilled in managing maintenance workflows in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Planning: Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans for all equipment, including processing, packaging, refrigeration, and facility systems, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Work Order Management: Create, prioritize, and schedule work orders based on preventive maintenance (PM) programs, equipment criticality, and production demands.
- Resource Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance technicians, production teams, and external vendors to allocate labor, parts, tools, and materials for scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical components while minimizing excess stock. Coordinate with procurement for timely material acquisition.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program: Maintain and update PM schedules to enhance equipment reliability and compliance with food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, HACCP).
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Track maintenance metrics (downtime, work order completion rates) and generate reports to identify trends and recommend improvements to maintenance processes.
- CMMS Utilization: Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software to document maintenance activities, track equipment history, and schedule tasks efficiently.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards, OSHA regulations, and food safety requirements, including proper lockout/tagout procedures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to align maintenance schedules with production goals and resolve equipment-related issues promptly.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce costs, and enhance equipment performance through root cause analysis and lean methodologies
Key Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in maintenance planning or scheduling may be considered.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or a related role, preferably in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- Proficiency in CMMS software (SAP) and strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems used in food manufacturing.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (HACCP, FDA, USDA) and experience working in a refrigerated or frozen temperature-controlled environment.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple schedules, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and document maintenance activities effectively.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and data analysis.
- Ability to occasionally work in cold environments and navigate production floor for inspections or coordination.
- Certification in maintenance planning or reliability (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional - CMRP) is preferred.
- Ideal candidate will have experience with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies as well as knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems used in our frozen food facilities
