Job Title: Maintenance Senior Incharge – Footwear Manufacturing

Reports To: Plant Head / General Manager – Operations

Salary: Up to ₹35,000 per month (Based on experience, knowledge & technical skills)

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Head will lead and manage all maintenance, repair, and upgradation activities of machinery, utilities, and plant infrastructure within the footwear manufacturing facility. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving equipment efficiency, ensuring cost control, and maintaining strict safety and statutory compliance to support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for footwear machinery including cutting, stitching, lasting, sole pressing, moulding, PU/PVC injection machines, compressors, boilers, and utilities.
• Conduct quick breakdown analysis and ensure rapid troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for specialized equipment.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and service history records.

2. Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead and supervise maintenance engineers, technicians, and electricians.
• Allocate daily tasks and monitor team performance.
• Conduct technical training and skill development programs.
• Promote a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor.

3. Utilities & Infrastructure Management

• Oversee maintenance of DG sets, compressors, boilers, HVAC systems, ETP/STP, water supply systems, and electrical panels.
• Ensure uninterrupted availability of power, compressed air, steam, and other essential utilities.
• Monitor load management and energy efficiency.

4. Inventory & Cost Control

• Manage spare parts and consumables inventory to avoid stock-outs.
• Plan procurement of critical spares with cost optimization.
• Negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing.
• Control maintenance costs within approved budgets.

5. Process Improvement & Compliance

• Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Kaizen, and 5S practices.
• Identify opportunities for energy savings and machine efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety norms, pollution control standards, boiler regulations, and statutory audits.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and preventive audits.

6. Reporting & Coordination

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance MIS reports.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality teams for machine readiness and production planning.
• Report major breakdowns and improvement plans to senior management.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of footwear manufacturing machinery & production processes.
• Expertise in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of SAP/ERP maintenance modules is an added advantage.
• Strong safety awareness and compliance understanding.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3–7 years of plant maintenance experience.
• Minimum 2 years in footwear / leather / allied manufacturing industry preferred.
• Prior supervisory or managerial experience is desirable.
