Job Role:
To lead all maintenance activities during the shift in the paint shop and ensure uninterrupted operation of equipment across PT/ED, Primer, Topcoat, Oven, and Utility areas. The role focuses on timely breakdown response, preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental norms.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of technicians and electricians during the shift.
  • Ensure smooth shift handover with proper communication of pending issues and work done.
  • Attend daily production-maintenance coordination meetings and align maintenance activities accordingly.
  • Immediate response to breakdowns across paint shop zones: PT/ED, spray booths, robots, ovens sludge systems, conveyors, etc.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Coordinate with production to minimize downtime and maintain takt time.
  • Ensure proper logging of breakdowns in CMMS/SAP.
  • Ensure adherence to daily/weekly/monthly PM schedules.
  • Monitor equipment health and performance using IoT/SCADA/sensor data (fan currents, pressures, temperatures, etc.).
  • Support implementation of predictive techniques like vibration analysis, thermal imaging, sludge monitoring, etc.
  • Maintain critical systems like: PT/ED tanks and circulation systems, Paint robots (e.g. Yaskawa,) Sludge systems (pumps, skimmers, chemical dosing) Air handling units, ovens, chillers, heat exchangers Fire safety and exhaust systems MES/SCADA/instrumentation systems
  • Monitor and maintain paint shop utilities: compressed air, chilled water, DI water, exhaust, and VOC systems.
  • Support ETP, STP, and hazardous waste handling procedures where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to environment norms (VOC levels, effluent management, etc.).
  • Ensure availability and optimum usage of critical spares and consumables.
  • Report low stock and raise requisitions where necessary.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols in high-risk zones (booths, ovens, tanks).
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety audits.
  • Ensure LOTO compliance during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain shift-wise reports of breakdowns, maintenance done, downtime, spares used, etc.
  • Update CMMS/SAP systems regularly.
  • Highlight chronic issues and assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning.
Competencies / Skills:
Functional/Technical:
  • Deep knowledge of paint shop process equipment and layout.
  • Hands-on experience with paint robots, circulation systems, ovens, AHUs, and sludge treatment systems.
  • Proficiency in breakdown analysis and digital maintenance systems (SAP PM, Infor, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, Mitsubishi PLCs, Servo drives,VFD Friction drives system, Conveyors
  • Familiarity with Digitalization, Predictive Maintenance techniques, 5S, and Lean Maintenance
  • Experience with robots (FANUC, Yaskawa, etc.) and vision systems is a plus
  • Good communication and shift coordination ability
