Maintenance Supervisor- Medina

Objective / Purpose
Maintains and repairs physical structures, pipe and electrical systems, mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment, and machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems. Sets up and operates variety of machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines. Plans and coordinates schedule of preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, tools, and buildings. Manages the overall conditions of facility and campus building and grounds. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Ensures the department meets company and OSHA health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Leadership:
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs tasks of those supervised.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and enforces facility policies and goals.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Utilizes MPulse software to coordinate department activities and maintain work orders, tasks, and records.
  • Establishes realistic timelines for project completion to ensure staff optimization.
  • Reviews manufacturers’ service manuals, own establishment’s usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure department maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participates and promotes participation in facility employee engagement and community outreach events.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
Communication and Coordination:
  • Confers with other site leadership to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Communicate with third party contractors on repairs or equipment.
  • Coordinates plans for reconstruction or installation of new equipment, machinery, or buildings.
  • Manage campus facility and grounds cleanliness including but not limited to trash and snow removal.
  • Keep management abreast of significant issues or developments that impact general operations, quality, safety, health, or environmental.
Procurement:
  • Generates purchase orders to requisition tools, equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Evaluates vendors of supplies and services to determine effectiveness.
  • Estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during maintenance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Assists with managing recycled materials, products, and other Operation Clean Sweep handling.
Quality Compliance:
  • Perform annual reviews of all Maintenance Department related documents (Forms, Work Instructions, and Training) and partner with the Quality Dept. to make the necessary updates.
  • Participate in the internal audit program for Medina QMS.
  • Maintain records to report department KPI’s and defined Quality Objectives.
Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
1. Education
a. Certified Safety Professional and Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
b. 5 years of experience in a similar role, including supervisory responsibilities.
2. Knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPA)
3. Strong leadership and people skills. Results oriented with solid communication skills.
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
7. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Maintenance Software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
8. Must promote a professional image and demonstrate the ability to build trust, confidence, and influence change.
9. Knowledge of pneumatic equipment, plumbing, and general construction.
10. Knowledge of welding and fabrication.
11. Knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
12. Knowledge of electrical up to 480v, control panels, and PLC
