Maintenance Tech - Electrical - UHT - Processing
Job Summary:
Maintenance Technician â UHT is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Ultra High Temperature (UHT) processing systems and associated plant equipment. The role ensures reliable, safe, and efficient operation of UHT lines by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with food safety, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on UHT systems, including heat exchangers, pasteurization units, pumps, valves, sensors, and associated mechanical, electrical, and thermal components.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues affecting UHT processing equipment.
- Analyze causes of equipment breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of UHT and related processing equipment.
- Create work orders and manage spare parts in accordance with plant maintenance procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment operates within defined parameters and complies with food safety, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Record and report maintenance activities, breakdowns, and spare parts usage accurately.
- Suggest improvements to preventive maintenance programs and internal maintenance processes.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), supervisors' instructions, and plant safety protocols at all times.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide technical support to ensure uninterrupted production.
Required Qualification:
Vocational Training as an Electrician, or
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of maintenance experience, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Relevant experience in maintenance of UHT systems or similar high-temperature processing equipment is highly desirable.
Required Professional Skills:
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems relevant to UHT processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Ultra High Temperature processing principles, equipment, and components.
- Strong understanding of heat exchangers, pasteurization systems, and related technologies.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repair of complex processing machinery.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work shifts and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
- Ability to work in industrial environments involving high temperatures, noise, standing, climbing, and bending, with strict adherence to PPE and safety requirements.
