Maintenance Technician 1 - CP-W

Position Overview

Maintenance Technician I is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing production equipment and facilities to ensure the continuation of production processes.


Essential Job Functions

The job duties listed below are the fundamental job duties of this position. Failure to perform any one of these duties would substantially alter the nature of the position.

  • Complete hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic repairs
  • Assembling, building and moving of production equipment
  • Dismantle, replace defective parts, reassemble and adjust to ensure efficient operation
  • Thoroughly complete PM reports and fill out MWR’s for large issues needing more attention
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance, and scheduled work
  • Facilities and yard maintenance and projects
  • Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Forklift, crane, & man lift certified
  • Maintain clean work service shop area
  • Clean up area following all maintenance services
  • Participate in problem solving issues
  • Communicate relevant information and concerns positively and effectively to others in timely manner
  • Conduct air quality checks
  • Report all maintenance or safety concerns with maintenance manager
  • Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE.
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
  • Follow company policies in relation to safety, cleanliness, attendance etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested


Knowledge, Skills & Responsibilities

  • Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in a maintenance role in a manufacturing facility
  • Preferred candidates will have a completed a formal skilled trades program with training in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or electrical maintenance and repair
  • Basic knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to perform basic shop math functions
  • Accurately use tape measure and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to operate forklift, hoists, cranes, manlifts, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed
  • Ability to operate various power and hand tools
  • Ability to work with others as part of a high performance team
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures


Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require adequate grip strength, finger manipulation, and/or foot motion to handle tools, product, equipment and/or controls on a regular basis. Generally, the job requires standing, walking, and balancing on a continuous basis Additionally, the employee may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis. The employee may be required to push and pull up to 65 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis depending on work assignment. The employee may be required to repetitively bend and/or reach forward to perform tasks, as well as occasionally perform tasks at knee level. Minimal climbing may be necessary to complete tasks.

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with others. The noise level in the production environment is loud, consistent with normal shop conditions. The nature of the job is working with and around machinery and equipment. The employee may be exposed to cut and puncture hazards, congested work areas, temperature variations, glare, and chemicals necessary to perform the role. For these reasons personal protective equipment is required. This role requires near and far vision, tactical, hearing, speech, and spatial perception abilities.
