Objective
- Responsible for repairing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining production machinery, equipment, and the facility structure to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- The primary goal is to minimize production delays by implementing effective preventive maintenance programs and responding quickly to equipment breakdowns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment malfunctions.
- Perform immediate and effective repairs on production equipment, often involving dismantling and reassembling machinery.
- Work with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controlled equipment and control systems where applicable.
- Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM):
- Execute planned preventive maintenance inspections and procedures (e.g., lubrication, cleaning, filter changes) to maintain optimal equipment performance.
- Monitor equipment performance and conduct routine checks to identify potential issues before they cause downtime.
- Installation and Modification:
- Install, set up, and commission new production machinery and equipment.
- Perform modifications and upgrades to existing equipment to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Perform general facility maintenance tasks, which may include light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC system checks.
- Maintain building and ground support systems (e.g., air compressors, conveyors, utilities).
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Complete work orders promptly and accurately, documenting all repairs, maintenance actions, time spent, and parts used, often utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Generate reports on equipment failures, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a safety culture and ensure the work area is clean and free of hazards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the production team to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize impact on production schedules.
- Communicate clearly with management and team members regarding the status of repairs and potential operational effects.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related field is often preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, Industrial Mechanic, or similar role in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems maintenance and repair.
- Welding, fabrication, and pipefitting skills are often beneficial.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and using CMMS software.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities (Root Cause Analysis).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, prioritizing work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality of work.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
