Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Maintenance Person

Location: Lake Charles Racquet Club

Position Type: Part Time Non-Salaried

Schedule: Work 30 or more hours per week. Some nights and weekends.

Overview: A reliable and dedicated Maintenance Person at Lake Charles Racquet Club, a boutique tennis club that prides itself on providing a pristine and welcoming environment for our members. The Maintenance Person is responsible for overseeing the upkeep and operations of the extensive club facilities, including tennis courts, aquatic areas, fitness center, clubhouse, pool house, and outdoor spaces. The Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring that all club facilities and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and in optimal condition, contributing to an exceptional experience for our members.

Qualifications:

  • Valid government issued ID and social security card.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Previous experience in maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a recreational or sports-related environment.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance practices, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, standing, and climbing ladders.
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in pool maintenance (e.g., Certified Pool Operator, Pool & Spa Operator Certification).
  • Experience with tennis court surface maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping.
  • Certifications in maintenance-related fields (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with operating small machinery, such as lawnmowers, pressure washers, and skill saw.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections of tennis courts, clubhouse and poolhouse facilities, and common areas to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of club facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair tennis courts, including surface cleaning, net adjustments, and surface repairs as needed.
  • Ensure that the clubhouse, locker rooms, restrooms, and other public areas are functional, clean, and safe for members and guests.
  • Conduct general repairs and preventive maintenance on the facilities and buildings, club equipment, plumbing, lighting, electrical, HVAC systems, and fixtures essential to the infrastructure throughout the club.
  • Handle routine landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, weeding, planting and ensuring the club's exterior is visually appealing.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from club management or staff, prioritizing urgent repairs.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and order as needed.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to equipment upkeep, identifying potential issues before they become problems.
  • Assist with seasonal preparation and adjustments, such as cleaning gutters or winterizing facilities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, federal laws and club guidelines while performing tasks.
  • Perform custodial tasks, e.g. empties trash receptacles, cleans and removes trash/debris.

Court Facilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of tennis courts.
  • Maintain and repair tennis maintenance machines and equipment.
  • Prepare tennis courts for members each morning.
  • Sweep, roll, and drag the surface of clay courts.
  • Responsible for scrubbing, line and debris removal, cleaning, drying and general upkeep of clay courts, rolling and brushing of courts
  • Keep court lines, nets, fences, and gates in good condition.
  • Pour cutrine in each tennis court box quarterly or as needed.
  • Prevent calcium and algae formation through chemical and manual agitation.
  • Wash rubico from sidewalks and empty courtside trash receptacles.
  • Maintain ice, water, and water bottles in courtside coolers; replenish cone cups.
  • Clean court drainage gutters, drains, and catch basins.
  • Install, remove, and repair court wind screens, keeping them neat and tight on the fence.
  • Keep Administration Staff like the General Manager and Tennis Professional personnel informed about court conditions.
  • Operate roller, court sweeps, blower, and other equipment needed to maintain the tennis facility.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager and Tennis Professional.

Building and Grounds Facilities:

  • Maintain and repair the Clubhouse, the Poolhouse, cabanas, outdoor grill, and all building structures in working condition.
  • Identify and repair broken equipment or hazardous conditions.
  • Handle routine landscaping duties such as lawn care, trimming, and ensuring the club's exterior is visually appealing.

Pool Facilities:

  • Ensure that the swimming pool and aquatic areas are properly maintained, including chemical treatments, filtration systems, and general upkeep of poolside facilities.
  • Identify and repair broken equipment or hazardous conditions.
  • Handle routine cleaning, including skimming, vacuuming, brushing surfaces/tiles and surrounding pool areas.
  • Monitor pool water quality and adjust chemicals as needed to maintain safe and balanced water conditions (e.g., chlorine levels, pH, alkalinity).
  • Record and report pool maintenance activities, including water testing results, chemical adjustments, and any repair needs.

Special Events and Seasonal Tasks:

  • Assist with facility preparations and execution of tournaments and club events. This includes but is not limited to setup and breakdown for events.
  • Help with the transition of outdoor furniture, poolside equipment, and amenities for various seasons, ensuring everything is stored or displayed properly.

Job Types: Temporary, Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Louisiana Driver's License (Required)
