Legacy Community Development Corporation (Legacy CDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, stable, and quality housing throughout Southeast Texas. We manage a growing rental portfolio that includes scattered-site single-family homes and multi-family properties.

Our properties are monitored by funding partners and grantors and must meet strict compliance, inspection, and timeliness standards.

We are seeking a skilled, reliable, and professional Maintenance Technician to support our Property Manager in maintaining and preparing our units for occupancy.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician works under the supervision of the Property Manager and is responsible for maintaining and repairing scattered-site rental units to ensure they meet quality standards, compliance requirements, and readiness for tenant occupancy.

This role requires strong technical ability, professionalism, reliability, and weekend availability for emergency on-call needs.

Key Responsibilities

Property Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in occupied and vacant units
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance issues
  • Address work orders in a timely and professional manner
  • Complete make-readies to prepare units for new tenant move-ins
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety and compliance standards
  • Conduct preventative maintenance as directed

Compliance & Timeliness

  • Ensure units meet inspection standards required by grantors and funding partners
  • Complete repairs within required deadlines
  • Maintain documentation of completed repairs and materials used
  • Support compliance inspections and re-inspections as needed

Operational Support

  • Respond to weekend and after-hours emergency on-call maintenance needs
  • Communicate regularly with the Property Manager regarding unit status
  • Take direction well and provide timely updates on assigned tasks
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with tenants

Qualifications Required:

  • Prior experience in multi-family property maintenance
  • Strong hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs
  • Highly reliable with strong work ethic
  • Weekend availability for on-call rotation
  • Reliable transportation to report to work sites
  • Must provide own tools
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism
  • Ability to take direction and report back proactively

Preferred Certifications & Credentials:

Candidates with the following certifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT)
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT)
  • HVAC Certification
  • Electrical or Plumbing Licensure
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) (a plus)

Additional compensation consideration may be given to candidates with advanced certifications and demonstrated hands-on expertise.
