Maintenance Technician

Akron Steel Treating Co. is seeking a first shift Maintenance Technician in Akron, Ohio.

Akron Steel Treating Company is currently looking to add to our maintenance staff. We are looking for

Industrial Maintenance Technicians for one of our 1st shift schedules, either 6:00am to 2:30pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm. The ideal maintenance person at AST is a self-starter who works independently, is organized, and enjoys solving mechanical and electrical problems with a “hands on” approach. General Job Summary:

This individual will be working on various in-house equipment, furnaces, salt pots, forklifts, conveyors, motors, fans, among many things including items such as changing light bulbs and cleaning the drains. This individual will be working with the plant electrical system (up to 480 volts), including controls, PLC’s and motor controls. This individual will carry out all said repairs and Akron Steel Treating’s preventative maintenance program in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacture’s specifications. This individual will utilize mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing and pneumatic skills in carrying out repairs. This individual will test all machinery for optimum and safe performance before returning to production. This individual will fill out all work orders, with items used for repair and summary of how repair was accomplished then return completed work orders to records personnel to be filed away. This individual must also update the AST maintenance work order request list with daily progress. This individual will be required to supply basic hand tools, needed to perform repairs in a General Industrial Maintenance setting. This individual will also be part of a rotating on call program to address issues that occur on the off shifts, 2nd and 3rd shifts, with a rotation on average being one week long. Tasks vary daily. Some weekend and overtime work will be required. This individual will follow all Company Policies set forth in the Employee manual with Special attention paid to Safety, Health and Environmental regulations.

Experience Required:

Our company is seeking 2+ years experience in general industrial maintenance. Military service is a plus. If you do not have specific heat treating plant experience, AST is willing to train you once you have demonstrated a history of good attendance and work ethic.
