Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

The Mark Spencer Hotel is a historic, boutique-style, 101 room hotel located in downtown Portland, Oregon. We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician who is a skilled, proactive, multitasking master to join our team! You will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer and work closely with all departments to ensure smooth day-to-day facility operations. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience performing upkeep, repair and maintenance of residential facilities and equipment. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of our beautiful hotel.

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday from 8am-4:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break. There will also be on call/after-hours emergency duties on a rotation schedule with the Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment and systems to include air handlers, evaporator, ice machine, related HVAC, laundry facility/equipment, plumbing, electrical components on switch gears, panels, thermostats, compressors, valves, motor controls, etc.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to the front desk and guest maintenance requests.
  • Walk the hotel daily to identify any needed maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Prioritize and complete work order requests daily and respond to urgent requests in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment and work areas.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, safety regulations and building codes.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors when necessary.
  • Complete routine and urgent work orders and keep accurate maintenance logs and records.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks including fixture installation, tile/grout repair, basic carpentry (frame and trim), masonry work, concrete finishing, and general handyman repairs.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, scaffolding, and specialized equipment safely and effectively.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years experience in facilities maintenance. Prior experience for hotels or apartment buildings strongly preferred.
  • Proven skills in capentry, sheetrock repair, appliance repair, tile/grout repair, door/cabinet hardware, and working knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols for residential and commercial properties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills for measurements and estimations.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language at the level of a High School graduate.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
