Maintenance Technician

Position: Maintenance Technician

Summary of Position: Ensures the proper operation of machinery and supporting equipment by completing line set-ups, line changeovers, and preventative maintenance/repair requirements on all equipment within the facility. Locates sources of problems by observing equipment, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments, and by talking to SME’s (subject matter experts).

Follows all rules related to Company, Safety, GMP, and SOP’s in a Food Processing Facility.

Reporting Relationship(s): Reports to Maintenance Leader or Manager on shift

Duties include:

• Respond to maintenance and mechanical needs with a sense of urgency
• Responsible for line changeovers and proper equipment operation upon start-ups
• Troubleshoot machine/equipment issues to find root cause and make timely and high-quality repairs
• Responsible for timely completion of the preventive maintenance program as assigned

· Assist in maintaining all equipment, tools, supplies in stock, inventories, and required logs/reports

· Contribute to a continuous improvement culture to minimize future downtime

· Communicate effectively to appropriate individual(s) equipment status and changes

· Maintains safe and clean working environment

· Adhere to all safety standards, policies & procedures, codes of conduct and utilizing LOTO and other best practices.

· Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times with co-workers, other department employees, vendors, customers, etc.

· Utilize materials, supplies, tools and other Company property in a safe and productive manner.

· Respond to emergency situations in accordance with departmental protocol

· Completes additional tasks as assigned

Requirements:

· have 3+ years of related experience in a fast-paced manufacturing maintenance environment.

· have experience with 480 3-phase voltage and 12-24 VDC.

· be able to understand and interpret design documents, manufacturer’s specifications, and written operational procedures.

· have GED or higher education

· have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

· be able to provide your own tools.

· be capable of doing extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 50-pounds, and work for extended periods of time in cold, damp, and hot environments.

· be able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and extended shifts to support production as needed

Highly Preferred Experience:

· Experience with Shanklin overwrap equipment

· Experience with JBT Spiral Freezers

· Technical school training in maintenance related courses

· Food grade TIG welding

Job Type: Full-time
