SCHEDULE

Regular Full-Time Position, Call-In Position
Must be available Sunday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm including occasional weekends.
Must be flexible with schedule changes to meet operational needs.

HIRING RANGE

$23.00 to $30.00 hourly

Actual pay commensurate with experience

JOB SUMMARY

· Performs routine facility inspections, completes work orders and service requests and addresses emergency maintenance needs to maintain facility systems and infrastructure. Assists with facility improvement projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining accurate records. Collaborates with team and contractors to ensure the facility runs efficiently and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs routine inspections and maintenance of Halawa facility systems and equipment, such as drywall repair, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical work. (40%)*

o Conducts routine inspections of common areas, mechanical rooms and building systems and identifies and resolves issues.

o Performs inspections, conducts tests and/or coordinates repair of: Emergency eyewash and deluge shower equipment as required by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards and fire extinguishers in accordance with HIOSH and local fire code requirements.

o Inspects and services mechanical systems.

o Investigates and diagnoses water leaks and facilitates prompt repairs.

o Constructs, fabricates, installs, maintains or repairs non-contracted equipment, tools, buildings, machinery or other physical infrastructure. depends

o Implements and/or executes preventive maintenance tasks.

o Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and safety throughout the facility.

· Provides excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency requests for Halawa, DLS Patient Service Centers and Hospital locations on Oahu. (35%)*

o Performs specified maintenance, repair and/or renovation in accordance with approved work requests, codes and other specifications.

o Responds to emergency calls and prioritize urgent maintenance issues.

o Completes daily work orders and assigned tasks promptly.

o Researches costs of materials and use of equipment required to fulfill work requests and confers with management/requester to ensure costs are within budget. Obtains proper materials and equipment to perform work requests.

o Investigates reports of damage and/or breakdown of equipment/facilities to determine and correct cause.

o Makes minor repairs to furniture, fixtures, and equipment, such as fixing leaky faucets, unclogging drains and replacing light fixtures.

· Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, prepares status reports, inventory and follows compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. (15%)*

o Maintains, tracks and reports maintenance and repair activities, accurately documenting work performed.

o Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.

· Collaborates with team and contractors to provide technical support and troubleshoot building systems, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. (10%)*

o Assists in training other general maintenance workers and staff in repair, inspection, testing, maintenance and operations of equipment.

o Maintains compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all facility operations.

JOB DEMANDS

Typical Physical Demands:

· Requires manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

· Able to sit and use PC for up to two (2) hours continuously.

· Able to drive to various company locations.

· Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coats, safety goggles, face shields, masks, etc.

· Able to stand, walk, reach, grasp, bend, squat or stoop for up to eight (8) hours continuously.

· Able to stand, walk, reach, grasp, bend, squat, stoop, crawl, climb, kneel, crouch up to eight (8) hours intermittently.

· Able to lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 75 50 pounds occasionally.

· Able to lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance occasionally.

· Able to use machines, tools, and work aids such as pallet jack/lift, hand truck, carts/wagons, box cutter or ladders/step ladders with varying heights.

· Able to use feet to operate equipment occasionally.

Typical Working Conditions:

· Work environment includes conditions common to a hospital/laboratory environment, including working in the general vicinity of biohazardous materials, potentially harmful chemicals, and patients with communicable diseases.

· Works in both indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor environment will expose employee to varied, hot, cool, wet, and humid climates.

· Occasionally performs work in a walk-in refrigerator for up to 15 minutes at a time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Preferred:

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Completion of an accredited or certified training program in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or relevant trade.

· Apprenticeship in carpentry, electrical, plumbing or relevant trade.

Experience:

Required:

· Two (2) years experience in at least two of the following- building maintenance, basic carpentry (e.g., drywall, assemble furniture, paint, finishing), electrical work, plumbing or small equipment

Preferred:

· Experience working in healthcare environment.

Skills:

· Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.

· Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.

· Ability to work efficiently using MS Office apps.

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Strong understanding of basic building maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs.

· Knowledge of building systems with regards to HVAC, plumbing and electrical and general maintenance practices.

· Ability to communicate with employees and contractors.

· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities for facility systems.

Required:

· Valid driver’s license (full license, not provisional or intermediate) and clean traffic abstract.
