Job Description:

• Installation and Configuration: Setting up and configuring fiber optic networks to ensure they function correctly and within the link loss budget. Setting and configuration of ONT (Optical network terminal) for Customer service requirements (Training provided)
• Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance to keep the systems (Network Not systems) in optimal condition.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identifying and fixing issues within the fiber optic network, including splicing and terminating cables up to 144F Fibre count.
• Testing: Using specialized equipment like power meters and Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) to trace and pinpoint network issues and test the integrity and performance of fiber optic cables.

• Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of the fiber optic infrastructure, including any anomalies and corrective actions taken and ensure accurate maintenance history. Keeping record of any splicing diagram changes and reporting plan changes

• Safety Compliance: Adhering to industry safety standards and regulatory requirements during all operations.
• Customer Interaction: Communicating with customers to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction with the network solutions provided.Customer education on 2 Gig equipment and device capabilities
• Floating of Fiber: Ensuring fiber cables are properly floated to prevent damage and maintain network integrity. OSP
• Excavation: Conducting excavation work at Distribution Access Points (DAPs) as required for network maintenance and expansion as and when required.

• General Maintenance and Upkeep of the Network: Regularly inspecting and maintaining the overall fiber optic network to ensure optimal performance.

• • Cleaning of manholes

• • Organising and securing fibre on current fibre distribution joints

• Availability After Hours: Being available for emergency repairs and maintenance outside of regular working hours. As well as On call schedule on rotation basis over weekends

• Quality Control: Ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications.

• • Labeling, Cable management, Install quality, splicing standards and acceptable loss budgets

• Verifying and Certifying Handover Documents: Reviewing and certifying documentation related to the handover of the network. (QA Department) Perhaps network auditing rather that QA function

• Patching, Documenting, routing Fiber at the POP: Performing patching of fiber at the Point of Presence (POP) to maintain network connectivity.

• Additional Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the business requires and sees fit to enhance the quality of our network and customer experience.
