Maintenance Technician PLC

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician PLC to join a large-scale manufacturing operation in Chicago. This role focuses on electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and instrumentation to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, PLCs, control panels, relays, breakers, communication systems, and alarms.

• Install and commission electrical equipment with minimal supervision.

• Diagnose problems, replace faulty components, and perform advanced wiring assignments.

• Support and troubleshoot VFDs, 3-phase motors, and sensors (temperature, pressure, level).

• Provide technical assistance to junior maintenance staff.

• Follow all safety and sanitation protocols in a food-grade, unionized environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED plus formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.

• Strong electrical background with proven PLC troubleshooting ability.

• Ability to wire/test 3-phase motors and calibrate industrial sensors.

Preferred Qualifications

• PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).

• Control panel installation and troubleshooting.

• Experience with sanitary or hazardous process instrumentation in food or consumer goods facilities.
