This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the Association Property Manager, the Maintenance Technician maintains the physical properties, equipment and supplies of the Heart of the Valley YMCA Association. This position bears the responsibility for recognizing and anticipating property needs as well as responding to staff and reports of needs by initiating corrective measures. The Maintenance Technician’s primary goal is to ensure clean, safe and attractive facilities for members, visitors and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This individual will report to any of the facilities within the Association as needed.
  • Responsible for day-to-day preventative items that could include painting, changing of filters for air units and/or pools, general plumbing, changing of light bulbs, etc.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment and systems to identify any issues.
  • Complete repair work and projects in a timely manner.
  • Maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems and inventories (bulbs, parts, etc.).
  • Conduct periodic quality checks of equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
  • Ensure that facility and grounds’ cleanliness is a high priority for member satisfaction. To this end, perform custodial duties as necessary.
  • Three or more years’ experience in facility management or closely related field.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry and other maintenance-related areas.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the facilities.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a record that meets YMCA standards.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
