Job Summary
The Transportation Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and compliance of Hollywood Feed’s fleet of semi-trucks. This role ensures fleet safety, regulatory compliance, and supports the reliability and efficiency of our transportation operations. The Transportation Maintenance Technician has strong technical expertise in fleet maintenance, diagnostics, and transportation compliance systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fleet Maintenance & Repair: Lead all maintenance and repair activities for semi-trucks, including routine service, diagnostics, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal fleet performance.
  • Camera Systems & ELD Management: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of camera systems and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). Ensure all systems are fully functional and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Inspections & Compliance: Coordinate and conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and safety regulations. Maintain high standards for safe and efficient fleet operations.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage maintenance schedules, prioritize work orders, and coordinate with operations teams to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and system installations. Track key metrics and prepare reports as needed.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Assist in managing the maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory of parts, tools, and supplies required for maintenance, as well as components for camera and ELD systems.
  • Problem Solving & Technical Support: Troubleshoot complex mechanical and technical issues, providing expert solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Partner with drivers, supervisor, manager and internal teams to communicate maintenance updates, address concerns, and support overall transportation operations.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional fleet maintenance experience, preferably in retail or distribution environments.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations in the last 3 years.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience with ELD systems, camera systems, and fleet technology
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain open and respectful communication with supervisors and coworkers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physically able to maintain balance on ladders or raised surfaces.
  • Physically able to hook & unhook trailers from tractor, pushing, pulling and cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers.
  • Physically able to enter and exit cab. Cab floor level is generally 36 to 66 inches above ground level, with entry and exit achieved via the assistance of various steps and handholds.
  • Physically able to reach above shoulder level, waist level, and below waist level.
  • Physically able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, along with bending, kneeling, twisting, crouching, pulling, reaching, and other physical movements essential to daily tasks.
  • Role requires working in a non-climate-controlled light industrial environment.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical school or vocational training in automotive technology preferred.
  • Extensive experience in diesel engine maintenance, and repair, particularly with semis-trucks, including camera and ELD systems preferred.
