Maintenance Technician/Day Porter

Description: The Maintenance Technician / Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment across the property or facility. This role combines light maintenance, janitorial duties, and general building support to ensure daily operations run smoothly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Maintenance:

Perform routine inspections of building systems and common areas

Complete minor repairs (doors, locks, fixtures, drywall, etc.)

Replace light bulbs, air filters, and basic hardware

Assist with preventative maintenance tasks

Janitorial / Day Porter Duties:

Maintain cleanliness of common areas (lobbies, hallways, restrooms, break rooms)

Empty trash and recycling bins regularly

Clean spills, debris, and high-traffic areas throughout the day

Restock supplies (paper towels, soap, toilet paper)

Grounds & Exterior:

Keep sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas clean and clear

Perform light landscaping (trash pickup, minor snow removal, salting)

Report hazards such as ice, damage, or safety concerns

Tenant / Staff Support:

Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner

Set up and break down rooms for meetings or events

Provide general assistance to tenants, staff, or visitors

Safety & Compliance:

Follow all safety procedures and company policies

Identify and report maintenance issues or risks immediately

Ensure tools and equipment are used and stored properly

Work Schedule:

  • Typically daytime hours (e.g., 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
  • May require occasional evenings or weekends depending on facility needs

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance and cleaning procedures
  • Ability to use hand tools and maintenance equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and be on feet for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

  • Prior experience in maintenance, janitorial, or facilities work
  • OSHA or safety training
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC knowledge

Requirements:

  • Technical skills with required office equipment.
  • Patience and great attention to detail.
