Maintenance Welder

Position Title: Maintenance Welder

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor or Head of Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Welder to join our team. This position is intended for someone with previous welding and maintenance experience who can perform metal repairs, fabrication, and field welding work with limited supervision.

The Maintenance Welder will handle welding, repairs, fabrication, and installation work in apartment buildings, commercial properties, maintenance facilities, and job sites. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, can troubleshoot and repair damaged metal items, works safely, and arrives with their own welder and basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication work with limited supervision
  • Perform MIG and stick welding on steel and other common materials
  • Cut, grind, fit, and prepare materials for welding
  • Read a tape measure accurately and make basic measurements
  • Repair gates, fences, handrails, security doors, dumpsters, equipment, trailers, carts, and other metal items commonly found at apartment and commercial properties
  • Prep, prime, and paint repaired or fabricated metal surfaces as needed to match existing conditions and protect against rust and weather
  • Operate grinders, chop saws, drills, and other basic shop tools safely
  • Clean and prepare work areas before and after jobs
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear proper PPE at all times
  • Complete jobs efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship
  • Be available to work at job sites and occasionally after hours or weekends if needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–3 years of welding and maintenance experience
  • Previous experience working in apartment maintenance, property maintenance, fabrication, construction, or a similar field preferred
  • Strong MIG and stick welding skills
  • Ability to repair and fabricate metal gates, railings, fences, frames, supports, and miscellaneous maintenance items
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic layout and measurements
  • Ability to safely operate grinders, chop saws, drills, and other hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently and complete jobs with minimal supervision
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and personal truck required
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work indoors and outdoors
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work hard

Required Tools and Equipment

The candidate must provide their own basic hand tools and welding tools. Required tools include:

  • Basic hand tools
  • Welding tools
  • Personal welder
  • Welding helmet and gloves
  • Safety glasses and work boots

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in tight spaces
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Work around sparks, dust, heat, loud noise, and construction environments

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Monday through Friday
  • Occasional overtime, nights, and weekends depending on workload and emergencies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.58 - $30.81 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
