Maintenance Worker

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for general maintenance and simple carpentry as scheduled by Director of Facilities at the various Big Sandy Health Care facilities
• 
  Maintains and performs minor repairs to plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures and valves; clears clogged plumbing fixtures
• 
  Makes minor repairs to the heating, electrical, and other systems of buildings
• 
  Assists carpenters, electricians, painters, and plumbers by carrying tools and materials, by placing and removing ladders and cleaning the workstation when the work is completed
• 
  Replaces various types of light bulbs in clinics
• 
  Responsible for landscape maintenance at the facility sites including but not limited to mowing, trimming, raking, and tending to various landscape plants.
• 
  Other related duties as assigned

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, performs various simple and moderate physically strenuous tasks associated with maintaining offices, furniture, buildings and grounds. May assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment. Under the direction of Director of Facilities, performs maintenance tasks for the company vehicle(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate or GED
• Must be a licensed KY driver with no driving restrictions or violations
• Must be insurable
• Dependable and trustworthy
• Possess physical capacity to perform assigned tasks
• Ability to work well with staff

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed both inside and outside BSHC clinic sites and can involve moderate exposure

to the elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or unpleasant

odors. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require

following basic safety precautions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Considerable physical activity is necessary. Requires heavy physical work such as lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is the primary part (more than 70%) of job.
