Job Description
We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to set up, troubleshoot, and manage specialized sound, audio, visual, and live streaming equipment; organize event spaces; and perform maintenance tasks. This position will be full-time contract and onsite.
What You’ll Do
Lead the set-up of specialized sound, audio, visual, live streaming equipment, including sound mixers, monitors, DVD players, mult box, and podium equipment
Troubleshoot and repair issues with sound/audio equipment provided by the State and customer-required equipment
Use creative thinking and react quickly to solve problems with limited resources
Review worksheets, organize timelines, and plan room set-ups for Statehouse activities
Assess conference rooms and event locations, prepare spaces, and gather needed equipment
Ensure spaces are presentable by cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and removing trash
Transport unnecessary equipment/furniture to the storeroom and reset spaces as required within the timeframe, especially during Legislative Session
Handle Statehouse events efficiently with attention to location and event requirements
Lead other staff in the absence of supervision and train new team members as needed
Clean carpets as scheduled/needed using commercial-grade floor scrubbers
What You'll Need
Required:
Practical knowledge of all audio, video, and sound equipment, along with commercial-grade cleaning equipment
Ability to complete manual tasks involving constant standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, and stooping
Outstanding customer service skills for interactions with visitors of the Statehouse and Conference Center
Knowledge of event setup/breakdown procedures and troubleshooting equipment failures
Ability to understand and interpret event reservation forms and instructions
Proficiency in sound equipment setup, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and cabling
Weekend availability with minimal notice; schedule is event-based
Ability to work independently and follow specific instructions
Preferred:
Supervisory experience or group leadership
Familiarity with inventory management and supply tracking
Physical Demands
Constant lifting and walking throughout the Statehouse and Conference Center
Moderate lifting of furniture and equipment and pushing/pulling items on flatbed carts
Non-sitting position with moderate manual dexterity required
Indoor work environment with controlled climate; occasional outdoor work
Minimal risk from moving furniture; safety and comfort maintained at appropriate levels
Weekend work required; schedule dependent on events
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
