Maintenance Worker - Landscape Vegetation Management

Performs intermediate semiskilled work maintaining vegetation in parks and on city properties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Crew Coordinator.Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Mixes and applies herbicides; removes weeds from parks, right of ways, and around city buildings.Prunes bushes, vines, and trees; plants flowers and other vegetation.Collects and removes leaves from parks and other city property; collects and removes other landscape debris from paths and sidewalks.Loads mulch into vehicles; places mulch around trees in parks and on city property; plants and waters trees.Maintains athletic fields; lays sod, fertilizes, seeds, and applies insect repellant to assigned areas.Maintains equipment; makes minor repairs to equipment as necessary.Performs emergency maintenance duties after severe weather including snow removal.Assists with traffic control measures.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.Within 6 months of hire: Flagging CertificationRequires occasional overtime/weekend work
