Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper

Definition: To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in several areas of property maintenance and grounds keeping, to repair and maintain assigned buildings, equipment and to perform related duties as assigned. Employee will perform basic duties in areas of the building trades and grounds keeping including carpentry, electrical and plumbing, and pest control.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Perform semi-skilled and skilled work to maintain buildings and equipment.

· Maintain turf areas, including weed control.

· Follow verbal and written instructions and work with supervisor or designee to prioritize work.

· Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain equipment and fixtures requiring trade skills.

· Operate hand and power tools.

· Locate and repair minor roof leaks.

· Perform basic grounds-keeping duties such as trimming of grass, trees and shrubs.

· Maintain service vehicle with gas, water and oil and refer major mechanical problems to appropriate source.

· Maintain daily log of work completed, materials used, time spent, etc.

· Clean, maintain, and repair tool and equipment.

· Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Standards:

Knowledge of:

· Tools, methods, procedures, and practices used in building and construction trades, including ground maintenance, minor electrical, minor plumbing and carpentry.

· Safe operation and usage of building trades, tools, and equipment.

Ability to:

· Plan, organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

· Understand and apply principles, techniques and procedures required for effective job performance.

· Safely use and operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment.

· Understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

· Analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

· Meet the physical requirements of the job.

Education and Experience:

Education: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Reaching: Above Shoulder 25 -50 lbs

· Below Shoulder/ Lifting/Carrying: Up to 100 lbs

· Hand Activities, Repetitive Hand Use, Simple Grasping, Power Grasping
Fine Manipulation, Hand and Arm Twisting/Turning

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
