Scope and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic finance and operations team, dealing closely with internal and external stakeholders on the implementation and maintenance of Oaktree’s Singapore investment platform that is used as the primary holding structure for Oaktree investments in the APAC region.
1. Assist in implementing operational and accounting procedures and controls, tailored for the Singapore platform that meet local requirements whilst being consistent with Oaktree’s policies, and leverage best practices from other similar Oaktree investment platforms’ operations.
2. Work closely with external service providers to manage accounting, operations and financial records of Oaktree’s investment holding entities on the Singapore platform and across the APAC region.
3. Work closely with various internal working groups including investment team, tax, legal and compliance teams to support entity setup, bank account opening, local license applications, equity injection, investment funding and repatriations and working capital management.
4. Work closely with external fund administrators, tax and legal advisors, bankers, custodians and other service providers in setup of investment structures for any new deals, ensuring that they are operational in advance of deal completion, and ongoing maintenance of such structures.
5. Participate in weekly conference calls of various working groups.
6. Assist investment team on funding memo preparations and monitor fund flows of new deals.
7. Ensure all statutory accounting deliverables are achieved within defined deadlines covering quarterly accounts, annual audits and upstream management accounting/reporting to Oaktree’s fund entities.
8. Manage local monthly/quarterly accounting and regulatory compliance process.
9. Review audited annual financial statements and statutory/regulatory compliances in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory disclosure requirements.
10. Ensure that all inter-company balances are reconciled on a quarterly basis.
11. Identify and implement improvements in systems and processes surrounding all the above areas.
12. Perform other project-based duties as required.
Experience Required
- At least 4+ years post qualification experience preferably working in private equity, private credit or investment management industry
- Excellent knowledge of current local accounting standards and statutory/regulatory requirements
- Experience with Alternative Investment Funds and investment manager reporting and/or regulations in India is an advantage
- Strong Excel skills; hands-on experience with accounting systems and reporting tools
