Position Summary
This position works under limited supervision to plan, coordinate and manage the activities of all assigned personnel, thereby ensuring that all operations of the division are carried out in an efficient, timely and professional manner.
Pay Grade: 53
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years’ experience in video/computer technologies with three (3) years supervisory experience; and
- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business or public administration, or related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs, manages and supervises employees of SEEU (Specialized Electronic Evidence Unit).
- Performs management responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring training, appraising performance, discipline and addressing complaints.
- Plans and directs work activities of all assigned personnel and ensures that activities are assigned and completed in an effective manner.
- Establishes or assists in establishing guidelines on procedures, methods, other work changes and implements procedures as required.
- Confers with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
- Monitors expenses and revenues to keep within budgetary perimeters; assists in the development of the department’s budget; assists in reconciling, reviewing and classifying expenditures to proper accounts.
- Ensures current and new employees are trained and stay abreast on all procedures to ensure efficient operations
- Develops protocols for emergency response of unity during and after business hours.
- Reviews and monitors daily operations, logs and records to ensure established Sheriff’s Office procedures and protocols are followed by staff.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.

- Knowledge of modern management techniques and the ability to apply them in directing work of others.
- Ability to prepare budgets, financial reports and cost analyses, develop timetables, projections and workforce, with the ability to monitor and revise as needed to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of department or division goals, objectives and procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles of personnel management and public administration.
- Working knowledge of communications equipment including computer, radio, video and digital audio equipment.
- Ability to immediately recognize liability issues and exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with public citizens, co-workers, subordinates, and outside agencies with courtesy and tact.
- Ability to effectively and professionally represent the department in court situations, meetings, boards, committees, etc.
- Ability to assess and address employee needs and issues.
- Ability to design, propose and implement effective policies and procedures.
- Ability to conduct meetings, develop workable plans, prepare comprehensive reports, statistical data, specifications and equipment proposals/recommendations.
Ability to effectively troubleshoot video/computer equipment.
Physical Requirements
Requires lifting and carrying of heavy objects and maneuvering to include stooping and bending.
Special Requirements
- Must be available for on-call, night and weekends.
Must pass a criminal background check.

The residency requirement shall not apply to certain public safety/civil service employees.
