Manager - Chemical Warehouse & Logistics

The Chemical Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for the effective utilization of resources and equipment to ensure the daily operations of the distribution warehouse are performed in a timely, accurate and safe manner.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages the activities of warehouse and logistics personnel in a multi-shift operation. Team is responsible for:
  • Develop and implement warehouse work instructions, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provides clerical support for inbound and outbound logistical operations including scheduling of trucks and LTLs.
  • Executes timely post-goods-issue (PGI) transactions for all outgoing shipments.
  • Creates delivery documents for outgoing truckloads per departmental processes, including hazardous materials shipments and international shipment paperwork.
  • Coordinates shipping schedule along with paperwork and SAP tasks related to LTL and full truckload shipment.
  • Assign, maintain and ensure stock locations are labelled correctly.
  • Identifies staffing needs, hires and trains as required.
  • Monitor and make improvements where identified as necessary on warehouse processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of orders shipped.
  • Ensure that all warehouse and plant logistics personnel are trained in department policies and procedures. Manage, monitor, and develop personnel and conduct performance reviews.
  • Review departmental errors and re-train when necessary.
  • Supervise personnel, scheduling of workload, breaks, lunches and vacations.
  • Record shipment data such as weight, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • Handle employee complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts and escalate to Manager when necessary.
  • Hold regular meetings with department staff.
  • Lead by example and evaluate departmental workload requirements in order to continuously staff appropriately.
  • Enforce housekeeping standards.
  • Meet departmental KPI’s and goals
  • Provide strategic input for issues affecting the department.
  • All customer changes to schedules are noted and shipping schedule is accurate.
  • All SAP transactions pertaining to shipments (deliveries, PGIs) are performed in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as needed


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety PPE equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe shoes, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
  • Regularly required to stand or sit and move about the facility. Ability to stand for 8 hours per day.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years Warehouse/Shipping/Logistics Experience.
  • Experience with 'Lean' material management and SAP software preferred.
  • Management Experience - Employee Reviews, Employee Relations, Training, Hiring, Terminating & Developing.
