Position Summary –
The Engineering Manager will lead site-wide engineering maintenance, projects, and infrastructure planning, ensuring alignment with GMP and regulatory standards. This role manages GMP-compliant change control and digital maintenance systems, driving Pharma 4.0 initiatives such as automation, CMMS, and predictive maintenance. The manager provides technical oversight for HVAC, BMS, and aseptic systems and ensures robust GMP compliance. With responsibility for the engineering budget, the role focuses on reliability-centered maintenance and operational excellence. Candidates should have a strong engineering background, PMP certification, and experience in regulated environments. Leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation are essential for success in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead Engineering Projects:
Oversee planning, execution, and completion of site-wide engineering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with regulatory standards.
Lead Facility Engineering Team:
Provide leadership, direction, and support to the facility engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
Contractor Management:
Oversee and manage contractors, ensuring performance against established KPIs and compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.
Site Engineering Upkeep:
Ensure seamless upkeep of all site engineering systems and infrastructure, maintaining high standards of reliability, safety, and operational readiness.
Infrastructure Management:
Plan, develop, and maintain critical site infrastructure, including utilities, HVAC, Building Maintenance System, and aseptic systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
GMP Compliance & Change Control:
Manage GMP-compliant change control processes for all engineering modifications and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Digital Maintenance & Pharma 4.0:
Implement and manage digital maintenance systems (CMMS), and drive initiatives in automation and predictive maintenance as part of Pharma 4.0 transformation.
Technical Oversight:
Provide expert guidance and support for troubleshooting, validation, and optimization of engineering systems and equipment.
Reliability-Focused Maintenance:
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to enhance equipment uptime and reduce unplanned downtime.
Budget & Resource Management:
Manage the engineering department’s budget, resources, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective operations.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with Quality, Production, EHS, and other departments to support site objectives and resolve technical challenges.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B. Tech) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering. Master’s degree (M. Tech) preferred.
Certifications: PMP or equivalent project management certification required; Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean methodologies is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience in engineering management within a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment. Minimum of 10-14 years of experience in Engineering operations, including infrastructure project planning, execution, and controls.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Advanced skills in MS Excel.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in cost analysis and financial evaluation.
Negotiation Skills: Proven experience in negotiating contracts and supplier agreements to achieve optimal terms and conditions.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of procurement activities.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of procurement regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Documentation Practices: Expertise in procurement documentation, including supplier due diligence, business cases, and justification notes.
Procurement Processes: Familiarity with procurement processes such as RFI, RFQ, RFP, bidding, and commercial negotiation.
Matrix Environment Experience: Experience working in a matrix organizational structure with indirect reporting lines.
Process Development: Ability to develop and improve business processes and methodologies.
