Job Summary:
The Manager, Equity and Compensation Programs works closely with the Director, Benefits & Compensation to complete the day-to-day Equity plan administration and strategic compensation projects. Responsible for management, daily administration and operations of our equity incentive plan, which include restricted stock units (RSUs), and performance stock units (PSUs) with twice yearly lapse events. This role involves managing all aspects of equity grants for new hires to annual equity awards vesting activities. This individual should have advanced knowledge of all related legal aspects like the Securities Act and ERISA and is responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance of plan operations and staying informed of and applying, required regulatory changes. This individual manages and administers all award and lapse events throughout the year including two annual lapse events and retiree prorated lapse events. The individual must be committed to providing accurate and efficient management and administration of the equity plan, advise executive leadership on regulatory items and overall improvements, while working collaboratively with Corporate Accounting and Corporate Legal to support all reporting requirements. The individual must recognize the importance of their efforts in maintaining investor relationships, corporate reputation in the investor community, compliance with all SEC requirements, and providing an accurate and seamless experience for employees. A portion of the role requires working with executive leadership on strategic compensation programs while providing one-off job pricing. This individual assists in annual merit process planning, annual compensation process administration, and in variable pay administration across the Reliance organization.

Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to the Director, Benefits & Compensation who provides oversight and general direction.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Job Function:
  • Administer the Company's global equity plans and maintain all aspects of the equity management system, including day-to-day administration, end-to-end process and reconciliation of new grants, new hires, terminations/cancellations, and dispositions. Maintain meticulous records, performing timely vesting calculations, and communicating effectively with plan participants, Management, Legal, Accounting, and Payroll.
  • Project Management and Strategic Planning: Collaborates closely with the director of compensation and benefits on project management and strategic planning for the compensation unit.
  • Manage all of the equity lapse events including the two annual events and the qualified retirement lapse events. Advise executive leadership on regulatory issues and overall process improvement.
  • Ensuring that demographic file transfers from HR and Payroll systems to the Charles Schwab equity management system are processed correctly and promptly.
  • Oversee the creation, tracking, and management of employee equity awards, including Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Performance Stock Units (PSUs).
  • Maintain database integrity and ensure accuracy of record-keeping of equity data and integrated systems.
  • Compensation Consultation: Collaborates with HR partners on pay adjustments, job leveling, retention strategies, and offers guidance on compensation-related matters.
  • Data Analytics: Conducts proactive data analytics to support compensation assessments and provides recommendations to HR and business leadership.
  • Program Support: Assists in merit planning, variable pay administration, and equity nomination and distribution processes. Drives annual compensation processes in a global or multi-regional environment.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Designs and develops ad-hoc and recurring human resource reports for management and distribution, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Database Management: Manages departmental databases to analyze compensation data, developing standard queries and reports for effective data interpretation and reporting.
Required Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field is required.
  • 10+ years of compensation and equity administration in a U.S. public company
  • Knowledge of SEC requirements and ERISA
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to perform self-audit to always ensure data integrity and utmost accuracy, including reviewing the work of others.
  • Certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Equity Professional (CEP) preferred.

  • Meticulous record-keeping and mindfulness are crucial for compliance and effective administration.
  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends, and develop recommendations based on analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and stakeholders effectively.
  • Familiarity with equity administration software and Microsoft Office applications. Advanced skills in Excel.

Work Environment:
Ability to shift between consultative work and analytical and operational tasks. This position will work with multiple departments and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders. The role will involve managing multiple projects simultaneously and will require adaptability to changing regulations and company policies.
Compensation Range: The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $155,000.00/Yr. - USD $180,000.00/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
