Role Purpose:
The Manager – Finance (Financial Analyst) is responsible for delivering in-depth business analysis across key areas such as gross profit, working capital, and financial modelling. The role ensures that management consolidation, financial reports, and forward-looking projections accurately reflect the company’s performance and financial position. This includes reviewing the quality of financial information and supporting decision-making through robust analysis.
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Budget and Cost Control

Monitor assigned budgets to ensure adherence and proactively identify potential issues.

Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets when required.

Provide recommendations on cost-optimization initiatives.
Financial Reporting

Support the financial planning cycle by maintaining updated reporting tools and systems.

Ensure management reports and consolidated financial statements accurately reflect business performance and financial health.

Deliver financial analysis focused on business performance, funding requirements, and cash flow.
Business Analysis and Communication

Conduct business analysis under the guidance of the Financial Controller across areas such as:

Operations and merchandise

New business initiatives
-
Financial and business modelling
-
Identify and escalate any issues that may impact the company’s operations.

Review financial analysis inputs for business presentations, country-level communication, and ad-hoc reports.

Validate financial insights incorporated into monthly performance presentations.
Internal Control and Audit

Ensure alignment and adherence to finance-related procedures and internal controls.

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date fixed asset register.
-
Oversee timely and accurate payroll processing.
-
Review supplier payment terms and assess their financial implications.

Monitor stock checks, aging inventory, receiving controls, and shrinkage results, ensuring corrective measures where necessary.

Conduct CCO (cash control office) audits to minimize cash flow risks and recommend improvements.

Ensure full compliance with Internal Audit recommendations.

Contribute to the development and implementation of financial strategies aligned with corporate and business objectives.
Human Capital Responsibilities

Support the performance management cycle by setting objectives, tracking progress, and offering constructive feedback.

Mentor team members to build a sustainable talent pipeline.

Identify training needs and collaborate with Human Capital to ensure training delivery.

Develop and implement on-the-job training plans for the finance team.

Provide input for annual manpower planning.

Ensure full adherence to MAF Retail’s corporate policies and related procedures.
