Manager, Fixed Asset Accounting - Modesto, CA

Job Summary:

The Manager of Fixed Asset Accounting manages the administration of the company’s fixed assets and all associated records. This position works with executive management as well as the company’s financial and tax accountants to maintain capitalization policies that maximize profitability while ensuring that the company minimizes its tax liability. The Manager is responsible for not only the accounting of capital assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), but they also maintain all depreciation books including Federal and State as necessary. The position manages the company Property Accounting department.

The Manager is responsible for development and management of capitalization policies and procedures to ensure strategic objectives and ensure the fiscal integrity of the Company’s financial reporting. In addition, the role is responsible to continually evaluate existing practices and systems and recommend new technologies, practices, and procedures to ensure optimal real solutions that benefit the Company. The Manager works collaboratively with the Finance leaders and teams to ensure accuracy of the company’s financial statements and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the company’s tax (external) and financial (internal) accountants to establish capitalization policies that provide maximum profitability and minimum tax liability
  • Collaborates with the company’s financial auditors on all fixed asset related matters
  • Responsible to enforce the company’s capitalization policies
  • Continuously improves the processes for fixed asset accounting and related activities, leveraging available and new technology where appropriate
  • Responsible for supporting the companies tax accountants (external) on all fixed asset and depreciation matters
  • Primary contact for all property tax audits, working with internal and external contacts to achieve the minimum tax liability for the company
  • Leads and manages team, to include hiring, training, coaching, counseling, performance appraisals, discipline and termination when necessary, in accordance with Labor Relations and Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Financial statement analysis, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP
  • Special projects as assigned

Hiring pay range: $81,386.00 - 106,819.00

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively utilize financial management tools, information systems methodologies and techniques
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of depreciation accounting, including tax depreciation
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and problem-solve.
  • Strong coach, mentor, and teacher to mentor and develop others to achieve operational precision
  • Ability to develop and maintain performance goals, and regularly provide information to executives and management.
  • Ability to effectively speak, write and listen in a non-judgmental fashion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under tight time constraints
  • Advanced Excel, Word and query skills

Experience: 5 minimum years related experience, 2 minimum years management, supervisory, and/or leadership experience

Education: 4 years/Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience/training, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
