The position would work with our Research Group within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
The candidate will support the Research Faculty, Post-Docs, and Research Scientist within PMR Department with Pre Awards and Post Awards. Additionally, will also have direct reports and will be responsible for the day to day operations of the research group.
Preferred skills: Strong background and experience working for a higher-education institution focused on medical research post and pre awards grants. Managerial Experience

Position Summary:
Plans, coordinates, and monitors the research activities of the unit. Oversees the procedures designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of government and private research grants and contracts and for the interpretation and application of such procedures and regulations.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Assists Principal Investigator with supervising and leading the pre and post award administration and coordinating.
2. May provide daily operational leadership including coordinating the daily activities of the team.
3. Reviews and analyzes proposed grants and contract proposals and awards for special conditions/restrictions and establishes controls to ensure full compliance. Provides guidance on complex proposals; approves grant proposal submissions.
4. Provides advanced level assistance to Principal Investigators and their staff to ensure allowability and allocability available to them by counseling and/or disseminating information and guidelines of the various granting agencies.
5. Distributes to Principal Investigators pertinent information relating to contractual provisions and obligations.
6. Adjusts budgets dependent upon contract requirements.
7. Coordinates activities in establishing grant protocol with institutions that may be involved in similar activities as named by the grant.
8. Leads the development of progress plans with professional organizations relative to the objective and purpose of grant funding for a particular area of research or training.
9. Compiles financial and personnel reports for grants and contracts at the departmental or school level.
10. Negotiates with agency regarding renewal of contract/subcontract.
11. Oversees proper close-out of grants and contracts, including final financial reports to grant agency.
12. Creates and maintains inventory of assets procured under contract and grant accounts.
13. Serves as liaison to provide and ensure a smooth, efficient, and appropriate flow of information.
14. May train lower level staff; develops and maintains a processes and procedures manual.
15. May manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations and salary planning.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Six (6) years of experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
