Manager, Human Resources - North America

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager – North America provides both strategic and operational HR leadership to support business objectives, company growth, and a best-in-class employee experience.

This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive workforce planning, organizational design, talent strategy, and HR initiatives across North America. The HR Manager will lead a team of HR professionals while ensuring compliance, engagement, and performance excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to drive workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of HR strategies aligned with business goals

  • Drive change management initiatives related to growth, restructuring, and operational shifts

  • Provide strategic oversight of compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and alignment with company objectives

  • Lead, coach, and develop the HR team with clear performance expectations and accountability

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian labor laws and employment regulations

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations and organizational matters

  • Oversee talent management programs including performance management, succession planning, and employee development

  • Champion the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure effective hiring strategies and workforce planning

  • Lead union relations, including negotiations, agreements, and grievance resolution

  • Oversee global mobility and immigration programs for the division

  • Drive continuous improvement of HR processes, systems, and audit practices

  • Collaborate with corporate headquarters and regional partners to align HR strategies

  • Standardize HR practices across U.S. manufacturing locations where applicable

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required

  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience

  • Proven experience leading HR teams and driving strategic initiatives

  • Strong background across core HR functions including compensation, recruiting, payroll, labor relations, and employment law

  • Experience working in unionized environments preferred

Industrial Electro-Electronic Equipment
This area includes electric motors, drives and industrial automation equipment and services, and maintenance services. Electric motors and other related equipment find applications in practically all industrial segments, in equipment such as compressors, pumps and fans, for example.

Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution (GTD)
Products and services included in this area are electric generators for hydraulic and thermal power plants (biomass), hydro turbines (small hydroelectric plants or PCH, and hydroelectric generators or CGH)), wind turbines, transformers, substations, control panels and system integration services.

Commercial and Appliance Motors
In this business area, our focus is the market of single phase motors for durable consumer goods, such as washing machines, air conditioners, water pumps, among others.

Paints and Varnishes
In this area, which includes liquid paints, powder paints, and electro-insulating varnishes, we have a very clear focus on industrial applications in Brazil and are expanding to Latin America and other regions.
