Summary:

The Manager, Internal Communications is responsible for developing and implementing internal communications that support the strategic objectives Catholic Health (CH). This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and clinicians to develop the message strategy and reach audiences at all levels of the organizations.

This role writes communications for the CEO in their voice, and at times, supports other senior leaders for significant communications. Creates or edits writing in support of senior management on operational issues including union negotiations and other key change management initiatives. Serves as the final editor of major internal publications and other modes of internal and organic social media communication. This role has primary responsibility for development of major corporate announcements and messaging, working in partnership with the Director, Content & Digital Strategy, CH Legal, and the VP, Marketing & Communications.

Will articulate and communicate Catholic Health transformation strategy and progress in an understandable way to associates and medical staff across the organization and will provide tools for managers to support effective cascade of communication.

Supports the development and execution of effective strategies and processes to deliver timely and engaging content to the organization's associate community, supporting associate engagement, and connecting them to the organization's mission.

This person will be tasked with understanding the impact and engagement of communications efforts (i.e. metrics), tracking communications industry trends and best practices, and advising the organizations on technologies and solutions to support optimal ways to engage the wide range of internal audiences. They must have great storytelling skills with an ability to write well, quickly, and accurately. They will need to translate complex topics into engaging content that resonates and can be easily understood with the audience.

The Manager, Internal Communications will leverage a wide range of tactics including, but not limited to, email newsletters, press releases, annual reports, promotional materials, online content, social media, meetings and special events.

This person will focus on the following:


  • Supporting the CH Human Resources team during Union negotiations, where they will jointly devise an internal communication strategy, which may include things such as live or remote-based training and/or guides for managers and supervisors on how to effectively communicate with associates during collective bargaining, development of associate pulse surveys, weekly internal calls, and post-negotiation communications
  • Supporting CH Human Resources with communications related to topics such as policy changes, associate benefits, and associate retention
  • Operational and change initiatives, advising and managing on appropriate communication and engagement techniques on system-wide initiatives

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Marketing Communications, Journalism, or other related field required

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in corporate communications, marketing communications, membership support/services, or public relations in a large organization setting - preferably in a healthcare or professional services setting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite - Highly desirable is experience with the Microsoft Viva Amplify platform
  • Demonstrated skills in developing communications strategies, plans, initiatives and tactics
  • Experience and understanding of the complexities with communicating to colleagues in a matrixed organization
  • Strong practical and technical knowledge of communication channels and content production including intranet, social media
  • Understands of the role of communications in employee engagement and organizational change
  • Understands the role of public and media relations in cultivating relationships between organizations and the public
  • Understanding of healthcare operations, industry trends, and regulatory environment
  • Solid understanding of AP style with tenacious editing skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders and executives
  • Resilience and flexibility; you are a self-starter who can handle an unclear brief
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Experience with graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign or similar)
