Overview:
The Mgr, Leave manages the employee leave of absence processes to ensure accurate compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as company policies. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Act, and similar state and local laws, as well as the company’s short and long-term disability, military leave and parental leave policies.

Responsibilities
  • Advises and serves as main point of contact and subject matter expert for managers, employees and HR on all processes and procedures required for leave of absence management and other requests, complex cases, and unique circumstances.

  • Manages and follows each step of the employee’s leave of absence. Acts as liaison between employee and employer and ensures that proper paperwork is completed by both parties. Provides regular status reports on active cases to all stakeholders.

  • Review, update and maintain all LOA policies to ensure legal compliance, ensure proper distribution and integration with all other departments. Creates and delivers training to HR and managers.

  • Communicates with managers on status of leave and provides updates regarding return to work plans.

  • Facilitates issue resolution with manager, employee, HR Business Partners and Legal as needed.

  • Maintains proper documentation on all manager and employee interactions related to cases.

  • Verifies employee HR system and payroll records are updated appropriately. Perform audits to ensure HR system and payroll leave information is correct and reconciled.

  • Develop, generate and present reports to analyze leave data and trends. Update workforce management system with LOA status and other information as needed.

  • Protects employee data and complies with all data privacy processes and regulations.

  • Works with employees, payroll and compensation in collection of benefits premiums while employees are out on unpaid leave. Monitors benefits repayments and terminates benefits when appropriate for failure to pay.

  • Other duties maybe assigned by the management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college is required. In lieu of degree, +2 years related work experience is required.

  • 6+ years’ experience administering leave of absence benefits or related.

Preferred
  • PHR/SPHR qualification preferred.

  • Experience in dental or retail industry is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong abilities in managing the daily operations of department(s) or work unit while developing short to medium term (1-3 years) goals.

  • Fostering employee development by providing a supportive learning environment.

  • Highly developed teambuilding, influencing, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to direct the work of others and work as a team leader in attainment of goals.

  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle and maintain extreme confidentially with employee records, compensation information, etc.

  • Ability to draw valid conclusions; apply sound judgment in making decisions, and make decisions under pressure.

  • Knowledge and understanding of US federal, state and local employment laws and regulations including but not limited to FMLA, ADA and other disability laws, including New York and California leave laws.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, judgment and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide high quality independent analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.

  • Demonstrates the ability to manage interactions with and between others with the specific goal of providing service and organizational success on change initiatives.

Salary Information: $116,000.00-$150,000.00 / Annually
