Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Job Summary

Manager of Facilities performs a variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of the physical plant, as well as other related tasks to ensure efficient daily operation of the Plant Operations Department. This person is also responsible to report all contract negotiations and contracts to the Chief Financial Officer.

• Manages daily operations of building management functions for assigned facilities and leased spaces.

• Negotiates bids/contracts for building management services and manages vendor performance.

• Develops operational and capital budgets for assigned properties and ensures budgetary compliance.

• Resolves problems concerning property maintenance and security.

• Coordinates moves, expansions and renovations involving assigned properties to ensure smooth transitions and to minimize inconvenience to occupants and visitors.

• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

• Manages staffing, performance evaluation and training and development activities, and assists with capacity planning for staff and contract labor.

• Ensures that facilities are maintained, secured, renovated, and constructed according to departmental/organizational policies, procedures, plans and initiatives.

• Oversees all routine maintenance and repairs for buildings, to include electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

• Assists with the development of and compliance with the departmental budgets, including capital, operating and construction budgets.

• Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements.

• Acts as the Safety Officer for the hospital, Works collaboratively with the Director of Support Services to ensure all environmental regulations are met.

• Manages the fleet, and associated transportation services, of the hospital.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related facilities experience required

• Bachelors degree preferred, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

• Management experience preferred.

• Vendor management experience preferred

• Fleet Management experience preferred

• Must be able to work with others, take direction and work varying hours

• Must have good organizational skills

• Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills required.

• Computer proficiency
