Manager of Web Services – ECPI University

Job Summary

ECPI University is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Manager of Web Services to oversee the architecture, functionality, SEO best practices, and security of the university’s web platforms. This role will focus on ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability of ECPI’s web infrastructure while supporting integrations with enterprise systems. The Manager of Web Services will lead a team of developers and administrators to deliver secure, accessible, and user-friendly digital solutions that support academic, administrative, and marketing initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations, availability, and security of ECPI University’s websites and web-based applications.
• Implement and monitor SEO best practices to increase organic visibility and search performance.
• Lead technical design, development, and implementation of new features, integrations, and tools to support institutional needs.
• Oversee hosting environments, system updates, backups, and disaster recovery planning for web services.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy requirements, and regulatory policies.
• Collaborate with IT leadership, Marketing, and Academic departments to align technical capabilities with institutional goals.
• Manage vendor relationships for hosting, CMS platforms, security services, and third-party integrations.
• Monitor web performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to optimize site speed, uptime, and stability.
• Establish governance policies, workflows, and documentation for web systems and services.
• Oversee accessibility compliance (ADA/WCAG) and responsive design standards across all university web properties.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices in web architecture, cloud services, and IT security.
• Supervise and mentor a team of web developers/administrators; manage workload, project timelines, and technical training.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in web services management, web development, or IT systems administration, preferably in higher education or enterprise environments.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Technical Proficiency:
• • Strong knowledge of content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, or enterprise CMS platforms).
  • Expertise in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL) and frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud hosting environments, server administration, and database management.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, SSL, firewalls, and vulnerability management.
  • Proficiency in performance monitoring and analytics tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
