Manager Operations – Electrical
Position Summary:
Position is responsible for managing OKCPS districts electrical teams and provides management oversight to a variety of skilled electrical work related to commercial maintenance, repair and installation, preventative maintenance and service calls.
**This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & SafetySensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**
Essential Duties:- Manages the electrical teams to ensure completion of work orders in timely manner and in compliance.
- Oversees and set priorities for the teams responsible for all electrical tasks in the district.
- Provides technical and professional expertise, advice and opinions on projects of significant depth and complexity.
- Provides leadership with reports related to labor cost, material and staffing cost.
- Actively participates and supports Health, Safety and Environmental requirements/issues to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and obligations.
- Builds and maintains relationship with building administrators and staff which includes various OKCPS personnel, students and visitors.
- Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
- Defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness within the district.
- Develops the Electrical teams, which includes hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, counseling employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective production.
- Ensures that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs
- Generates reports and measures of departmental operations as well as records on all inventory, tools and vehicles.
- Evaluates work load and schedules service work in a way that best utilizes manpower and ensures minimal equipment down-time.
- Troubleshoots and resolves very complex problems.
- Drives district owned vehicles to assigned sites
- Core work schedule may change due to operational needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must have valid driver’s license to operate district owned vehicles with an acceptable driving record as determined to meet district motor vehicle insurance coverage requirements.
- Current Oklahoma unlimited electrical contractor license.
- Must be willing to assign technical trade license to the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board on behalf of OKCPS.
- Eight (8) years experience as contractor in maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Three (3) years supervisory/foreman experience managing multiple electrical crews.
- Knowledgeable of current city codes, jobsite safety, NEC and EPA regulations.
- Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Ability to read and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering specifications, and factory service manuals.
- Must have experience or general knowledge of electrical trade to include practices, tools and terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
