Winpak is looking for an experienced Manager, Payroll to lead the delivery of accurate, efficient and on-time payroll services and HR operational support across multiple business units with 2,800 employees in Canada and the U.S.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience structuring payroll policies, processes, leveraging technology and structuring payroll teams. The Manager, Payroll and HR Operations will lead change, and develop a collaborative, cross trained team of payroll professionals. You will play a key role in shaping and executing best practices, improving service delivery, and elevating the Payroll function at Winpak.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead organizational change initiatives related to payroll transformation and process redesign.
- Provide strategic leadership to centralized Canadian and U.S. payroll teams, including within a shared services model.
- Participate as a key member of the HR leadership team, collaborating with Directors and specialists on broader Payroll strategy and operations.
- Drive the alignment of payroll operations across business units and geographies, ensuring consistency to the extent achievable across locations.
- Analyze current-state payroll and timekeeping processes to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Lead the execution of payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business and service expectations.
- Provide process assurance and ensure effective oversight across all payroll activities.
- Support the development of team members by fostering engagement, continuous learning, and identifying high-potential talent for future growth.
- Develop processes and learning opportunities for people leaders who enter payroll information for their teams.
- Lead the enhancement and deployment of scalable, accurate payroll solutions in collaboration with the HR Operations Specialist.
- Implement complex collective bargaining agreement elements effectively and on time.

What We Are Looking For (Qualifications & Experience)
Leadership & People Management
- Experience managing teams and coaching, guiding, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Able to lead transformation initiatives, influence change, and bring people along with a clear and strong communication strategy.
- Experience with People Leadership Programs (PLP) or other leadership development initiatives.
Payroll & Systems Expertise
- Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and aligning payroll processes across multi-site, multi-country operations (Canada and the U.S.).
- Experience with UKG or similar HR/payroll systems.
- Understanding the nuances of complex payroll within collective bargaining environments.
- Background in manufacturing and unionized settings.

Compensation range: $110,000-$135,000. The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
