Manager, Product Quality Engineering

Overview:
Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Manager, Product Quality Engineering, based out of Billerica, MA.

Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.

Lead the Quality functions and manage the Quality teams in Billerica and Andover Massachusetts, including:
  • Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspection
  • Control of Non-Conforming Material Processes
  • Support of the creation, clarity, and alignment of procedures and work instructions
  • Support and lead root cause investigations and quality improvement projects
  • Ensure the manufacturing sites adhere to Quality and Operations Standard Operating Processes as defined in the business’s QMS
  • Collection and presentation of Quality metrics
Reporting to the Director of Quality Systems, the Quality Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying, aligning, and standardizing best practices across Rapiscan Systems global manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train the Incoming and Final Product Inspectors to meet functional deliverables and responsibilities
  • Manage and train the Quality Engineers with regard to MRB, CAPA, audit, and metric collection processes
  • Ensure Document and Record Control
  • Ensure Control of Non-Conforming Material
  • Manage WIP MRB including reduction of MRB and non-conforming material inventory
  • Facilitate problem solving, root cause analysis, and other continuous improvement initiatives on product quality issues
  • Lead the creation, collection, and presentation of Quality data
  • Lead internal and external audits

Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in engineering, business, or another relevant area required. Bachelors degree prefered.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Quality and/ or Operations functions in complex manufacturing industries with significant regulatory exposure.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a managerial role preferred
  • Experience with complex mechanical-electrical assemblies. Experience with Security Detection equipment desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO9001 and knowledge of ISO14001 is desirable
  • ISO9001 auditor experience, with Lead Auditor experience preferred
  • Proven experience in leading and driving continuous improvement initiatives, using quality tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, etc
  • AS9145 APQP/PAPP, Six Sigma or Lean certification is desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
