The Manager - Purchase will be responsible for
strategic and operational procurement of
electronics, electrical, mechanical components, and raw materials required for uninterrupted production. The role involves
vendor management, demand forecasting, material planning, cost optimization, inventory control, and logistics coordination, ensuring timely availability of materials while driving cost efficiency and supply chain robustness.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute
purchasing and sourcing strategies across multiple material categories. Drive
forecast-based material planning aligned with production and sales demand. Manage
weekly and monthly material planning, scheduling, and supplier coordination. Monitor and report
procurement KPIs, cost trends, and savings initiatives. Evaluate
material, logistics, and procurement costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities. Track and reconcile
raw materials and subcontracted inventory. Manage
supplier relationships, long-term contracts, and performance. Ensure optimal
inventory levels based on component criticality and lead times. Standardize and continuously improve
procurement processes and systems. Coordinate
logistics and freight to ensure timely delivery and minimize premium freight costs. Prevent
production line stoppages through proactive material availability planning. Oversee
stores and inventory operations, including FIFO adherence and material rejection handling. Conduct
regular supplier audits and ensure compliance. Drive strong
cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Production, Sales, and Finance teams.
Technical & Functional Skills
Strong expertise in
MRP, inventory control, and inventory analysis. Advanced proficiency in
Excel and ERP / SAP systems. In-depth understanding of
electronics components, storage, and handling requirements. Knowledge of
import procedures, freight management, and supply chain operations.
Leadership & Behavioral Skills
Strong
ownership mindset and accountability. Excellent
negotiation and vendor management skills. Ability to manage
dynamic, high-pressure environments with a problem-solving approach. Strong
sense of urgency and execution focus.
Ideal Candidate Profile
10+ years of experience in
procurement / supply chain, preferably within
automotive or electronics manufacturing. Proven ability to manage
multi-category sourcing and production-critical materials. Strong exposure to
supplier audits, inventory management, and cost optimization.
