Manager QA/QC (Switchgear engineering)

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Manager QA/QC to lead our quality assurance and quality control operations. This role involves managing a team of quality professionals, ensuring strict compliance with international standards (ISO 9001, IEC-61439, IEC-62271), and implementing rigorous quality control measures across our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and IEC standards specific to switchgear manufacturing.

· Plan and lead internal audits, product inspections, and third-party certification processes related to electrical panels and fabrication works.

· Supervise in-process and final quality checks for LV/MV switchgear assemblies, busbars, enclosures, and fabricated components.

· Oversee routine tests, type tests, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) including test reports, compliance certificates, and customer witnessing.

· Ensure quality control of raw materials, electrical components, sheet metal fabrication, painting, and panel assembly as per approved drawings and specifications.

· Collaborate with Design, Production, Procurement, Sales, and Site Services teams to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

· Manage and lead a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians, ensuring proper training and competency development.

· Monitor and report on key quality KPIs such as First Pass Yield, Rework %, Scrap %, Customer Complaints, and NCR closure timelines.

· Ensure calibration and compliance of testing instruments, measuring devices, and lab equipment (e.g., HV test sets, insulation testers, torque tools, etc.).

· Support customer inspections, audits, and site quality issues including warranty claims and corrective actions.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), lean quality practices, and 5S implementation in the quality domain.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Professional certifications in quality (CQE, Six Sigma, CQA) preferred.
• 8–10 years of quality experience in switchgear/electrical manufacturing; 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of IEC-61439, IEC-62271, NTDC, WAPDA standards.
• Familiarity with ABB audit systems and quality software.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
