We are searching for the best talent for a Manager, R&D Operations to support our Surgery group. The preferred location for this role is Raritan, NJ however Cincinnati, OH is also available. This role will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in-office. There is NO remote option.

Purpose: This role supports the broader R&D organization by owning and executing non‑technical operational activities, allowing scientists, engineers, and technical teams to focus on innovation and delivery. The role acts as an operational backbone for R&D, coordinating administrative, financial, vendor, governance, and process activities that sit outside core technical work but are critical for speed, compliance, and scale.

You will be responsible for:

  • R&D Enablement & Non‑Technical Support
    • Absorb and manage non‑technical work on behalf of R&D teams, including coordination, tracking, documentation, reporting and follow‑ups.
    • Act as a single operational point of contact for recurring R&D administrative needs.
    • Reduce operational burden on technical staff by standardizing and owning repeatable activities.
  • Vendor, PO & Financial Operations
    • Support vendor onboarding, PO creation, invoice tracking, and budget monitoring in partnership with Procurement and Finance.
    • Track spend, commitments, and utilization for R&D operational activities.
    • Ensure timely execution of vendor‑related processes so R&D work is not delayed.
  • Process, Governance & Compliance Support
    • Coordinate document routing, approvals, and required governance checkpoints.
    • Maintain operational documentation, trackers, and dashboards.
    • Ensure activities follow internal policies and operating procedures without slowing teams down.
  • Planning, Tracking & Coordination
    • Support demand planning, intake, prioritization, and scheduling of non‑technical R&D work.
    • Track milestones, dependencies, and operational risks.
    • Provide visibility into workload, throughput, and bottlenecks.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or standardize operational tasks.
    • Help build scalable operating models (admin pools, shared services, vendor leverage).
    • Partner with digital, procurement, and operations teams to improve tools and workflows.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, Advanced Degree strongly preferred; desired fields of study include Operations, Business, Finance, or similar.
  • At least 8+ years’ experience (6+ with Advanced Degree) in Operations, Business Operations, R&D support, Program Coordination, Finance, Procurement, and/or Shared Services.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and execution skills.
  • Comfort working across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Ability to operate in a regulated or structured enterprise environment.
  • Up to 10% travel – Domestic
  • Experience supporting R&D, engineering, lab, or product development organizations strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to procurement, finance, vendor management, or compliance processes highly desired.
  • Experience building or operating shared services or admin‑enablement models strongly preferred.
  • Strong data, tracking, and reporting skills (Excel, dashboards, basic analytics) highly desired.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$117,000.00 - $201,250.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
