The Manager, Security Technology & Operations is a member of Mayo Clinic’s Security leadership team.
Job duties include assisting the Director in establishing the strategic direction of the work teams or service lines & overseeing the team's design & maintenance of leading practice security technology processes, tools & analytics. The position supervises a team, which includes managing & prioritizing the team's workload; approving the scope, milestones, & objectives of assignments; facilitating removal of potential roadblocks; & providing challenging & meaningful work assignments that capitalize on team member strengths & bolster staff satisfaction/retention.
The Manager will drive the standardization of security technology & tools across the enterprise to enable centralized monitoring, reporting, analytics, mobility, workflow, & training. This will be achieved through the management of a team focused on delivering enterprise security technology solutions & controls, functional requirements, & implementation strategies & processes. The position is responsible for working directly with & supporting peers & partners to drive the enterprise security model forward which includes Intelligence, Data, Policies, Standards, Procedures, Communications, Training, and Education.
The Manager is accountable to consistently identify and understand security and IT-based solution implications across multiple Mayo Clinic business areas. The position is expected to serve as strategic resource and provide awareness of internal & external environment issues and trends, through continuous review/growth of the following knowledge: security aspects of the healthcare industry, technologies, regulations, and business practices; security frameworks, best practices, and reporting methods in response to increasing demand for transparency and accountability; and the enterprise's business strategy, critical assets, changing technology, and security risks/controls. The Manager develops operational protocols, plans, processes, and metrics for the efficient operation of the designated security services. Works with crisis/incident management teams to develop strategies, plans and processes to support preparation for and response to brand/reputational issues, continuity events, emergencies, and disasters regardless of cause.
The Manager is responsible to provide written and/or verbal updates to various groups and representing Security on workgroups, taskforces, or committees, as requested by the Director. Assists Director with execution of department management and administrative duties, as well as strategically assesses communication effectiveness within the department, suggesting improvements when necessary. Travel of 25% may be required, as work activities warrant.
This position is 50% hybrid, individual must live within driving distance to campus

Must be security clearance eligible. A Bachelors or Master's Degree in Security Management, Business Management, Organizational Management, Risk Management, or related field is required. Master's Degree in associated field is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience (8 years with relevant Masters' Degree) in one or more of the following areas is required: Physical Security, Information Technology, Security Systems Information Technology, Project Management, Business or Security Informatics, Security Architecture/Design Strategy, System Analysis and Implementation, or related functions.
Minimum of three years of direct supervisory or management experience, with demonstrated ability to build an effective, cohesive and collaborative team. Effective in leading, developing, motivating, and coaching a diverse team of security and technology professionals.
Certified Protection Professional, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, or Physical Security Professional or equivalent, or will obtain certification within two years of hire.
Must be computer literate and proficient in data entry and retrieval.
Advanced professional and culturally astute communication skills (both written and verbal)are required including ability to generate and deliver executive-level presentations. Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels of the organization, including proven ability to confidently lead discussion and negotiate on high risk and high pressure issues while simultaneously building credibility & rapport. Demonstrated ability to tolerate and deal effectively with ambiguous situations and the varying political/cultural environments within the institution, department, divisions. Proven ability to offer guidance on business processes, technology capability and vulnerability assessments, and control enhancements or mitigation approaches. Solid knowledge of security concepts and trends, project management methodologies, and relevant healthcare security regulatory requirements. Knowledge and understanding of business process within a healthcare institution preferred. Knowledge and understanding of corporate security processes preferred.
Certified Protection Professional, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, or equivalent, or will obtain certification within two years of hire. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.
