About the Position
The Manager, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) focuses on the optimization of the University’s .EDU website, including analyzing current web page designs and code, and working with creative and development teams to implement recommended changes. The individual performs in-depth evaluation of variable factors to analyze complex issues and/or data and selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain optimal results. The Manager, SEO works closely with teams within Marketing, web design, and development teams, as well as key stakeholders and colleagues throughout the University to continually enhance the University’s presence on the internet. Additionally, the Manager, SEO is responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing a team of SEO professionals to ensure alignment with organizational goals and to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
What You’ll Do:
1. Collaborate with individuals throughout the Marketing team on content optimization and development throughout the entire. EDU site to improve traffic and conversion metrics. Meet with stakeholders regularly to review results using Adobe, GSC, SEO tools, and other methods. Utilize creative problem-solving skills and strategic thinking as issues arise with internal or external market fluctuations. Adapt strategies and make recommendations for success with SEO team and stakeholders.
2. Manage and define SEO and organic forecasts; monitor and produce detailed reporting on search engine KPIs and their impact on defined business goals. Present results, including ROI impacts, regularly to marketing and senior leadership.
3. Use Jira software to create and manage tasks and progress with various teams and stakeholders throughout the University. Ensure projects are assigned and progress timely. Manage kanban boards and review progress with SEO team at least weekly.
4. Establish processes and procedures for the SEO team and create documentation to communicate throughout the University. Educate internal resources teams on the importance of SEO in all meetings and communications.
5. Manage vendor relationships relating to SEO-specific projects. Hold regular meetings to review goals and progress with vendors.
6. Keep pace with changes in the SEO industry and trends to ensure compliance and efficiency with the latest SEO guidelines and algorithm updates. Communicate process or impacts with marketing and throughout the organization with reporting, emails, and presentations.
7. Manage external link building for web properties to ensure SEO benefit for the University. Work with vendors to identify targets, set goals, and report progress to senior leadership.
8. Implement strategies to increase search engine traffic to the University’s website through SEO techniques such as title and meta tagging, indexing, link building, keyword ranking, and overall site architecture and content optimization. Provide search result reports, identify solutions, and recommend best practices on a variety of issues to improve search ranking.
9. Monitor and analyze site performance and brand reputation, and review tracking metrics to provide solutions to increase search engine ranking.
10. Research and evaluate new traffic trends and identify new optimization opportunities. Assess search outcomes related to sites or advertising/marketing campaigns using reporting tools and software; communicate strategies and results throughout the University.
11. Select, mentor, coach and evaluate staff; establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance discussions, including one-on-one meetings and quarterly check-ins; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or correction action, where appropriate.
12. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
