Day to Day

Provide leadership for a full-stack software development team of Developers charged with building and enhancing products and systems in a service-oriented, highly scalable, multidatacenter environment. Ensure Indeed’s products are built with performance, scalability, and data-driven decision-making in mind. Demonstrate solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms and excellent programming skills. Understand the value derived from shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results. Utilize deep understanding the web. Use expertise in programming, software architecture design, and configuration to guide the team’s software development efforts towards successful project delivery. Develop a technical strategy for the team that aligns with Indeed’s overall business objectives, which includes goal-setting, discussing options, and analyzing risks. Ensure large data pipelines are scalable and built efficiently with cost optimization in mind. Manage team cloud budget and provide monthly reports on spending and forecast future budgets. Partner with the team's Product Manager for stakeholder management and incorporate internal stakeholder feedback into your team's roadmap and planning. Manage employee performance within your team, set clear guidelines for job assignments, write and monitor employee goals, hold employees accountable for job responsibilities and achieving goals, reward employees for good performance, and mentor, coach, and discipline employees when necessary. Position is in Foster City, California. Up to 100% telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is permitted.

Responsibilities

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related computer technical field.
Five years of experience in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related computer technical role.
Five years of experience:
working in large-scale software development, using at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C++, Python, or C#;
working with databases, including SQL or NoSQL;
working with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures; and
building high-performance, distributed systems.
Two years of experience in: building and optimizing large scale "big-data" pipelines, using at least one of the following: Pig, SparkSQL, MapReduce, or AWS EMR; and managing or providing strong technical mentorship to a small team of Software Engineers (3-5 SWEs), growing their skills.

Experience may be gained concurrently.

Alternative Job Requirements:

In lieu of a 4-year Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related computer technical field, employer will accept a 3-year Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related computer technical field plus:
Eight years of experience in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related computer technical role.
Five years of experience:
working in large-scale software development, using at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C++, Python, or C#;
working with databases, including SQL or NoSQL;
working with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures; and building high-performance, distributed systems.
Two years of experience in: building and optimizing large scale "big-data" pipelines, using at least one of the following: Pig, SparkSQL, MapReduce, or AWS EMR; and managing or providing strong technical mentorship to a small team of Software Engineers (3-5 SWEs), growing their skills.

Salary Range Transparency

Salary Range: $274,456 - $284,000 per year.

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
