Here's a summary of responsibilities:
Under the supervision and direction of the Director, Sports Medicine Research, the Sports Medicine Research Manager will provide multifaceted strategic support for the sports medicine research program focused on injury and illness prevention and performance for Team USA. The Manager will be responsible for the development and management of research projects in collaboration with USOPC Sports Medicine, USOPC Sport Performance, and NGBs. The Manager will also contribute to the identification and submission of funding opportunities and assist with the dissemination of research findings among scientific and Team USA communities. The Manager will work with the Director, Sports Medicine Research to identify and execute research partnerships and collaborations to advance USOPC research goals and represent USOPC to external organizations and research groups.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:Managerial Duties-
Manage relevant research documentation, including athlete/participant consents and waivers. Store and audit information appropriately for research purposes per regulatory guidelines.

Work with USOPC Sports Medicine and relevant teams to develop and manage data collection methodologies using USOPC data management systems (e.g., Electronic Health Records and related platforms).

Assist in the management of the data security plan for USOPC research data and associated guidelines for NGBs. Manage data sharing systems between the USOPC and Medical Network Partners and University collaborators.
Research Strategy, Funding, Management, & Knowledge Transfer-
Contribute to the identification and acquisition of funding. Identify and solicit grants in support of current and/or new research initiatives. Work with the Director to engage the Development team as needed to generate donor support.

Work together with the Director and Sports Medicine leadership to develop and direct studies to investigate injury and illness prevention, treatment, and performance. Submit proposals to the institutional review board (IRB) to gain approvals to support USOPC research initiatives.

Assist the Director and participate in the USOPC Research Review Group (RRG) processes, including overseeing research proposal submissions and subsequent reviews, conducting an initial screen of external proposals, and scheduling RRG meetings. Work the RRG to evaluate, approve, and facilitate both internally and externally generated research projects.

Disseminate research findings from the Sports Medicine Research program to improve athlete health and performance.

Manage and coordinate logistics of clinical research programs (e.g., injury and illness epidemiology programs, injury and illness prevention programs, sport science research programs, technology assessments). Manage scheduling and coordinate appointments between research partners, USOPC clinics, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Facilitate the knowledge transfer plan for completed research initiatives to ensure internal and/or broad application of research findings.
- Work with USOPC Sports Medicine and relevant teams and other external research partners to determine impactful research questions for Team USA. Facilitate study design and direction, using USOPC and external partner research infrastructure.

Collaborate with the Director and the Research team to interpret internal and external data to develop and implement injury and illness prevention programs within the USOPC and broader sports community.
- Represent the USOPC at external national and international events to share findings and impact on Team USA.

Assist with identification and acquisition of external research partnerships.
External Research Experience Oversight-
Manage the USOPC Sports Medicine Research Experience with trainees seeking research experiences outlined in the Sport Medicine research roadmap. Assist the Director with identification of qualified candidates, guiding project progress and monitoring completion of projects.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:-
Master’s or PhD in Sports Medicine or relevant medical field (e.g., athletic training, physical therapy)

4+ years of experience in elite sports medicine or academic research setting

Prior experience in research program development and management
-
Previous grant writing and scientific presentation experience (i.e., manuscript writing, oral presentations at scientific conferences, standard operating procedure development)
-
PhD in Kinesiology, Biostatistics, Sport Science, Health Informatics, Epidemiology, or related field desired
-
Knowledge of, or experience in epidemiology, injury and illness prevention, sport performance, and/or relevant technology validation desired
-
Ability to handle confidential information and communicate only to the intended audience
-
Skill in R, SAS, python, Tableau, SPSS, or similar data management software
-
Proficient in word processing, desktop publishing, data analysis, and Electronic Medical Record use
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, physicians, volunteers, and other medical personnel

Here's some more information you need to know:-
Hiring pay range $90,000 - $100,000 per year

This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.

Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
