Manager Sustainability

Role Summary:

The Manager Sustainability supports the Head of Sustainability in advancing Abu Dhabi Airports’ sustainability agenda across all operations. The role contributes to the development of strategies, ESG frameworks, and governance structures, while driving the implementation of sustainability and decarbonization initiatives in line with organizational objectives, national goals, and international best practices. It oversees performance monitoring, reporting, cross-functional coordination, and stakeholder engagement to ensure measurable progress across environmental, social, and governance priorities.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Support the communication and implementation of the sustainability vision and ESG priorities across all departments.
• Contribute to ESG frameworks, policies, and governance processes in alignment with international standards and national sustainability agendas.
• Assist in implementing sustainability and decarbonization initiatives, including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, circular economy, biodiversity, and social impact programmes.
• Coordinate and monitor sustainability performance across Abu Dhabi Airports, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage sustainability-related projects, including planning, coordination, budgeting, and milestone delivery.
• Prepare reports, data analyses, and presentations to support decision-making on sustainable design, resource efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Support the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme through data coordination and engagement with authorities and government entities.
• Monitor global sustainability trends and provide benchmarking insights to support ADA’s strategic positioning.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement with external agencies, community groups, and partners to promote sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with communications teams to develop content and campaigns that highlight sustainability achievements.
• Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to track progress against sustainability metrics and targets.
• Support ESG reporting and disclosures aligned with GRI, TCFD, GHG Protocol, and other recognized frameworks.
• Assist with the roll-out of the Sustainable Design and Construction Manual (SDCM) to ensure sustainability requirements are embedded in capital projects.
• Track and report progress of assigned sustainability projects and studies to the Head of Sustainability.
• Support sustainability recognition programmes for designers, contractors, and partners.
• Maintain and update sustainability plans to ensure accuracy and alignment with evolving organizational objectives.

Top Competencies Required:

• Strong understanding of UAE sustainability strategies, national climate goals, and regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with global sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, SBTi, GHG Protocol, ISO 14001).
• Knowledge of carbon accounting, ESG ratings methodologies, and materiality assessments.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong project management and PMO capabilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, working effectively with diverse internal and external teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Planning, Environmental Management, Engineering, Architecture, or an aviation-related field from an accredited university.
• Professional sustainability or ESG certification from a recognized body (preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in sustainability or environmental management, either in-house or with a major international consultancy.
