Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in program management.
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.
  • Experience in building AI features or AI platforms.
  • Experience designing organizational processes, business planning cycles, or governance frameworks for engineering organizations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience managing cross-functional/team projects.
  • 10 years of experience in product, engineering, operations, or technical consulting roles.
  • Experience in building AI features or AI platforms at a large scale.
  • Experience leading and aligning geographically distributed, product/platform engineering teams operating across highly asynchronous or non-overlapping time zones.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

As a Technical Program Manager Lead for Workspace, you will provide leadership to a team of Technical Program Managers (T/PgMs) and strategically direct program management efforts for a large engineering organization exceeding 200 Software Engineers. Your primary focus will be to drive the vision, strategy, and successful execution of Generative AI programs. This highly visible role requires deep technical acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across numerous cross-functional (XFN) and cross-Product Area (xPA) partners. You will be instrumental in shaping and delivering a rich portfolio encompassing AI initiatives, first/second/third party integrations, core infrastructure, and other strategic AI projects.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $240000 - $334000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Establish, scale, and optimize organizational frameworks, templates, and processes to improve execution speed and alignment across the entire organization.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional annual planning cycles, milestone tracking, and technical review readiness to ensure long-term roadmap velocity.
  • Grow your team’s technical program management skills and expertise, with a focus on driving strategic outcomes through strong portfolio and program management complemented by technical understanding and judgement.
  • Drive rigorous tracking mechanisms for organizational health metrics, headcount allocation, and overall portfolio efficiency.
  • Synthesize complex technical roadmaps, milestones, and strategic initiatives into clear, high-impact communications and reporting for senior leadership across Workspace and broader Google organizations.
