Position Summary: Managing Editor for the HME News, portfolio of United Publications, a VGM Group company. HME News delivers industry news to the home medical equipment (HME) market through print and eMedia.

Responsibilities/Duties of the Job

An experienced reporter/writer who can produce well-researched, engaging copy on tight deadlines. The Managing Editor is part of a two-person editorial team. Duties include:

• Covering assigned news beats
• Producing stories for weekly email newsletters and monthly print publication / digital edition
• Contributing to social media accounts
• Conducting phone and video interviews
• Occasional webcast and podcast hosting
• Posting stories, web updates, and videos to website
• Managing a revolving group of industry guest writers
• Leading layout of the publication
• Managing story budget

Position Qualifications:

Skills and competencies:

The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience writing and reporting in a daily news setting. You should have a flair for writing and the desire to get the news first; demonstrated leadership qualities; a strong work ethic; excellent copy-editing skills; and InDesign experience. Business writing expertise and an understanding of the HME market are a plus.

Education:

• A bachelor's degree in journalism, English or a closely related field is required.

• Using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
• Standing
