Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Peoria, IL

Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role

Pay Rate: $42.00 – 45.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as a technical specialist within the Peoria Proving Ground ecosystem. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on field experience, and the ability to independently manage projects. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and quality. Experience with CAT (Computer-Aided Technology) tools is a significant plus.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Safety Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (SFMEA) for both existing and new shop processes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions and training programs for experimental mechanics.
  • Lead and manage projects independently, ensuring timely execution and alignment with operational goals.
  • Provide hands-on support in the field, working directly with mechanics and technicians.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues related to ergonomics, safety, efficiency, and quality.
  • Support the integration and application of machine tools, controls, and related equipment.
  • Design complex jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with standards related to safety, quality, cost reduction, and ergonomics.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently from initiation to completion.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in field environments.
  • Welding experience and comfort working directly with mechanical systems and shop floor personnel.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAT tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Additional software skills: Power BI, Power Automate, Visio, MS Access.
